on the International Day Against Drug Abuse, we are reminded of the massive spread of this affliction that is eroding the fabric of Syrian society and posing a threat that dismantles families and destroys communities.

It is my pleasure, along with the staff at the Syrian Center for Drug Control, that our efforts contribute to raising awareness among Syrian society and youth, and inspiring them to confront this border-crossing phenomenon.

On this occasion, we appeal to international community, institutions, and non-governmental organizations to enhance their efforts in combating drug abuse by investing in prevention, education, and awareness, as well as developing enforcement capacities and international support in the fight against drug trafficking and promotion.

Hand in hand, we strive to provide support for addicts, and give them a new life and a healthy, secure future that aligns with their dreams, far away from the horrors of drugs.
