On the occasion of World Drug Abuse Day 2023, and as part of the Syrian Center for Drugs Control’ initiative to promote prevention and strengthen individual and societal resilience, the Center organized an awareness-raising symposium titled “The Harms of Drugs & Their Impact on Society and the Individual” at the University of Aleppo/Azaz in northwestern Syria.

The symposium addressed the nature of drugs, their rapid spread among young people, and the consequent effects on families and society. It emphasized the need for collective efforts and organizational involvement to raise awareness of the dangers of drug abuse and to curb its spread.
